    Pulling out of the egg....

I was just wondering, what if you cut the egg and take the snake out of the sac right away? I saw jay from prehistoric pets to do that with retics.

    Pulling out of the egg....

Oh you mean the butcher? Basically don't do what that guy does. I don't think he has a very good reputation around the herp industry.

Never bought from him, but everyone I have asked who has reports fine animals that have grown to be both pets and breeders...I have not done business with him mainly because his prices are rather high and I do not own a credit card (lol). He is a bit rough with his hatchling retics...never seen him work with balls though. If I was pipping eggs of any kind...I would make my cuts, shut the egg tub, and leave for a bit, they will come out eventually.

I think he has nice animals. I really like his monitors. But I don't like him as a person. I do not like how he treats his hatchlings. Its OK to cut eggs open after a certain time. But I think its wrong to tear them out of the egg prematurely when they haven't even absorbed their yolks yet. They will come out on their own when they are ready.

What I will probably do with eggs is wait until the first one pips, then cut the others. Which I believe a lot of people do.

But never heard of pulling the snake out of the egg before it is fully absorbed, just doesn't seem right/healthy.

Re: Pulling out of the egg....

Im not thinking about doing it. I cut around day 55, and leave them alone until they go out on their own.

It came to my mind because I was reading about open eggs growing mold, then Iremembered about that video and Ithink it may be safer to take the baby out rather than leaving it in a medium full of bacteria.

Cutting eggs won't result in mold growth unless you're cutting at day 40...if you wait until the first pip to cut the clutch they will be fine.

Re: Pulling out of the egg....

Again this is just a thought....what if kind of thing...
If theres an egg thats been cut and its molded, wouldnt be safer to take the baby out rather than leaving it in there?

Not trying to take sides here, but i saw jay cutting eggs, and hes not nice with them, but in nerds video that refers to the butcher, those eggs were not cut live, they were already cut, and maybe cleaned?....

I personally would leave the baby in the egg. You should be able to remove a molding egg without harming the good egg as they get easier to pull apart as they begin hatching. To avoid the issue altogether, wait until you see a pipper before cutting. And if you see any more of that guys videos, watch what he does, then do the opposite.

edit: Not to mention good eggs are pretty resistant to molding...
