    Like a stick to climb?
    Juvenile Ball Pythons will gladly climb, but, as a species they aren't really known for spending much time in shrubs and trees. Although, they can climb their heavier body structure doesn't lend itself to making an agile or graceful climber.
    This will be one of those things that is strictly your preference the snake will be happy with or without it.
