    Heaters....

I'm looking into purchasing a small heater now that temps are getting chilly. What brand/model do you recommend and how do y'all rig up a thermostat for your setup? I'll he heating a medium sized bedroom in my home where I keep my reptiles. I have geckos in there so I just want temps hovering around 75-78*.

Just look around I wouldn't get anything that's to heavy duty,u don't want it to dry out your room and then say goodbye to humidity... Get something small, and maybe with a timer, where u can set a temp etc....idk any personally, but go to PC Richards, best buy, sears etc...

    Heaters....

I got mine from target. Paid $29.99 for it and it has a digital thermostat built in. Heats my small reptile room just fine.

    Heaters....

I know I want something small that won't shut off after 30 min. I know some have a thermostat already, but I don't trust them. I want to put an additional one on but I'm just unsure how to rig it up. I just need it to be able to heat my room 10* or so.

This is what I have: http://www.amazon.com/Holmes-HOH3000.../dp/B003XKI8TO

I like that you can set it at 600W, 900W, or the full 1500W. I think mine is set at 600W and I run it through an external Ranco thermostat (use the internal stat as a backup). It easily heats my 10x12 room ten degrees. I have a ceiling fan that runs constantly on the lowest setting to circulate the air.

One note - Make sure you block off any heating vents and drafts (crack under the door), or you will be constantly fighting you central heat.

    Heaters....

That's the thing...we don't turn on the heat until the house drops into the 50s. Since I don't own the house, I can't control the thermostat. They don't seem to care about the safety of my animals so I have to try and regulate the room temp on my own

Yup, oil filed here too. Have one for my daughter's room and one for the critters if needed. They seem to work really well.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?
