    If your thermometer probe is 2 inches above the substrate and reading 90-95*F then on the substrate it's way to hot for your snake. With no t-stat on that UTH it's going to be hot enough to burn him badly, and the subsequent vet visit will cost several times what a thermostat does. You need one ASAP.
