Surgery or no surgery she needs to communicate with you. Or if she isn't up to it then she needs to have her husband or a family member or someone do it. I would be worried too if I was you. I would give her a set amount of time to get the snake to you and if she doesn't, See about getting your money back. I am sorry this has been so hard for you.
