Pastel?!
So what do people tend to look for in a Pastel? if memory serves correctly these guys fade/brown out with age? Do high quality pastels not brown out or dont brown out as much?

All pastels brown out. How much determines the quality.
You want a hatchling with as little orange and brown as possible, as they are the main cause of browning out. Yellows will fade with age, but tend not to brown out as much.
Some people like pastels with a lot of blushing, others prefer less.

"Blushing" is the lighter/faded areas like what this girl has down her spine...you can see the blushed spots in the darker areas as well as on her head...blushing is found on a bunch of different morphs, so it's not specific to Pastels...

This is my pastel female (100% het for clown)
As a hatchling:

Around 1000 grams:

She doesn't have a huge amount of blushing, but what she does have is nice and consistent all the way down her back.
She also has some decent flames.
For me the most important aspect is the high contrast between the blacks and yellows.

At 2200g I think her coloring and blushing is still pretty decent.

A quality pastel will be bright yellow contrasting with the black. A lower quality pastel is brown muddy looking. Low quality babies are orange and/or brown. Oranges turn brown as adults. High quality pastel babies are neon yellow almost.
MissRiss2012 has one of the best quality pastels around. And this is the perfect example of not all pastels brown out equally.
This is her pastel looking amazing at 800g. Better than many hatchlings.

Here's one via Google at the same size.

Re: Pastel?!
For his size, he's kept his colors pretty well. I'd scoop him up.
