I've actually wanted to try this to make my asfs more friendly.
While I haven't nursed asfs with Norways yet, I have had Norways nurse mice pups with great success.
Congrats.

First time I am having soft furs, are they really that mean? I hear a lot of positive stuff but then negative also. I intend to handle them and try get them as calm and people friendly as my breeder's I have raised on my own.

Idk but 1 of mine right now is a $%#&+. Every time I reach in to feed them she lunges at my hand. I know the females tend to be territorial. The male is fine.

Re: Normal nursing soft furs?
That's awesome. We used to have asf's. Honestly don't miss them. But I have some ratty mommas that I think would take any foster in. I love love the good mommas. I hate retiring them. :-(
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.

My particular colony of ASFs aren't mean. But they aren't friendly either. Not like the Norways.
But I've seen some seriously nasty ASFs who crazy aggressive.
And ASF mamas can be pretty nippy when they have babies around. Something I'm glad the Norways typically don't do.
So having a Norway nurse ASFs makes handling the babies easier when the mother isn't trying to rip your fingers apart.

Update if anyone cares , this worked out perfect and i still have them with the 6 normal(norway) baby's they grew up with.=(time to build more racks)
Soft fur's are doing really good half of them are pretty nice and enjoy being held the other half are super fast energetic jumpers. Will be interesting to see how they turn out and what kind of size litters I will get out of them. Just had 3 more litter's few nights ago of norway's and 1 of them has some blues, i see both hooded and solid possible blues. Cant wait till they get fuzz my 2 big blue boy's are little nuts so will be nice to raise some baby's up as pets/breeders. Any of you ever seen or heard of a albino blue rat ?
