Tub Husbandry

I can't seem to get the temps up in my tubs. The hot spot in the tub is only at 85 while the cold side is in the 78-80 range. The thermostat/flexwatt is set to 92 but my room is generally a bit cold. I use 28q sterelite tubs. My ambient temps without the space heater on is in the low 70s. My main concern is the temps I'm taking are under the substrate. Above and in the middle of the substrate my temps drop a good 5 degrees.

Any tips or tricks to getting more consistent temps?
I've considered closing the sides and back of the rack so help contain the heat in more.
Or possibly making a sort of tent to house multiple racks with a space heater in there?

Moving the snakes to a different room is not an option for me right now.

Increase your thermostat setting. I have mine set to 97 to achieve a 90 hot spot in the tub.

And an enclosed rack or tub will help insulate and keep in heat. If your cold side is 80, it sounds fine.
My tubs are certainly warmer than outside of the rack. I keep my room in the mid-low 70s.

I'm a firm believer of putting the probe inside the enclosure.

Take some tubing, you could go to your local store to get it and glue it using a plastic epoxy to the inside of the tub on the ground. Then take your thermostat probe and put it into the tube. That way you can set the temperature on your thermostat to be 90 degrees an you're set.

I don't think its a good idea to put the probe inside the enclosure. Too many things that could go wrong. I do like nikki said and just set the t-stat a bit higher to achieve a sufficient hotspot.
