    Need feeding advice!?!?!?

So I have had my BP for about 3 or four months. She has been extremely fussy and I have wasted countless frozen feeders trying to get her to eat.

about 2 months ago she finally took an adult mouse. Then she stopped taking food for about a month. Long story short she took two adult mice on Sunday and has been acting very hungry (tracking movement and lunging when cage door is opened) I read that it takes 24-48 hrs for them to disgust so I offered her another mouse tonight (Thursday). She took it right away and still looks very hungry.

I don't want to over feed her (I think it's called power feeding) just wandering if this is normal. I don't Handel her much because I have heard they are not a fan of being out of their enclosure and i wanted to get her feeding on a regular basis before i take her out. I am also feeding her in her cage. She will not take food in a separate container.

any advice would be great. It just seems strange that she has such an interest in eating all of a sudden.

    cheers

    Need feeding advice!?!?!?

A lot of times, a ball will stop eating due to a change in husbandry. Have you changed anything in her tank recently? It's good that she's eating for you now.

Do you have a weight on her? I feed multiple mice to my mice eaters and keep them on a 5 day schedule. Most will only eat 1-2 per feeding. I'd wait another 5 days and offer again.

They prefer to eat live and sometimes will zero in on your body temperature. Power feeding is when you constantly feed every few days. Doing it once in a while shouldn't be a problem. She was probably fussy because she was in a new environment and many BP's won't be too interested in prekilled rodents because of the lack of body heat. Now that she is settle in the hunger is probably getting the best of her. I would recommend live, I feed 100's of BP's that way.

As long as she is eating you can keep to the f/t if thats what you prefer. I would also stick to 5 days for awhile.
If she was still not eating I would definitely say try live.

How big is your girl? Do you have a weight in grams?
It is okay to use pine bedding for snakes.
It is okay to feed live food to snakes.

That I don't know she is a big girl though she is about 1.5 years and 3 ft long. She is about as thick as a pop can. I don't have a scale I am very new to this.

As for feeding her live that is not something that I am comfortable with. She has always been fed f/t and seems to be loving the right now (a little bit to much) I am just concerned that she is striking at me when I open her cage to do regular clean up and water changes.

    Cheers

Sounds like she's hungry. Mice are too small for a 1.5 year old who seems relatively thick. If you can get a scale and get a weight in grams, that would be helpful in narrowing down what you should be feeding her and how often.

If not, you'll have to eyeball it. She can definitely take some rats now. A rat about as big around as she is wide at her widest part is what you're looking for. One meal like that a week should be good for now and help fill her up a bit. If you can't do rats for some reason, you'll have to do multiple mice.

    Thank you,

Her next feeding I will get her a rat.

The three mice should keep her satisfied for now right?

    Cheers

Without knowing her weight which would affect things a little, I would just toss another mouse, maybe two in there.

She hasn't eat much over the last few months. I would take advantage of this opportunity now and feed her while she's hungry. I almost guarantee #1 will be eaten quickly and I would bet on her taking #2 as well.
