Ball Python Stuck Behind Bookshelf

THE worst thing happened today, I took Viper out of his enclosure today and when I looked away for two seconds to put his lid and towels and stuff back on his cage (to keep the heat and humidity in) he got STUCK behind our bookshelf. I panicked so much and I was trying to pull him out but that wasn't working because its at an angle and he was trying to sqirm in deeper, so in the end I tilted the bookshelf away from the wall and risked it falling and pulled him upwards then pushed him into the bookshelf. after about ten minutes of crying and trying to get him out it finally worked. But when I looked him over he had scratches(not deep or anything, just scratch marks) on his scales (my poor baby)

On with the question, has your snake ever gotten stuck somewhere and will the scratch marks go away with his next shed?

I've had a lesser who escaped his enclosure once. I found him a week later with scrapes along his back side and there was discoloration to his lovely dorsal stripe.
I assume it's from him trying to squeeze under my bedroom door. It looked pretty large and ugly. The scrapes disappeared with a few sheds.

This^. If you want to accelerate the process a touch though, then a bit of silvadeine applied here and there will help; however, it is likely unnecessary given your description.

I've had a pretty bad experience with my snake getting stuck in something. I never knew that snakes couldn't judge how big they were in comparison to the thing they were trying to slither through but Eva definitely taught me that. She got stuck in one of her hides that had a hole at the top and a hole in the front but one day she got So stuck in the hole in the top that I tried for 7 hours to grease her up and slide her out but she wouldn't budge at all. I hammered it and after a while finally got her out by splitting the hide in two. She was missing all the scales where she was stuck so her skin was showing underneath. But after a lot of antibiotic cream and dressing the wound it dried up and the scales began to grow back. She still has the scar to this day but with every shed it gets less noticeable. Glad he didn't get stuck like mine did

My first snake got under the fridge just recently. Half an hour behind the fridge later, I got him out from where he was coiled around the compressor, which was nice and warm from where the fridge had been working all day. I should dig out the pics. He was dusty and crabby because I had to unwrap him rather forcefully but wasn't missing any scales, luckily.

I have never had a snake get out and stuck, but just last night I had a rat get loose and had to chase that sucker all over the place. it got under a desk, an ottoman, and then made a run for the bed but thankfully the bed is a platform with a solid base!

Have you ever wrestled a ball python out of a couch? Trust me when I say this, I felt like someone who should have been on NatGeo wild.
My curious and entirely docile BP (Boots) has some bent scales and what not after having to be removed from a wooden bed and its drawers, my couch, underneath doors from where a cat was playing ping pong from the other side, etc. Needless to say, I've reduced handling time for her own good.

yeah I was freaking out so badly. And it's a a square 7ftx7ft so it was really hard for me to move (being a 16 year old girl)
