Do you asfs available for feeding?
Best would be to get it feeding for you a couple times then try to switch

I just put a regular rat in my ASF holding bin for a half hour, then fed. Seemed to work good, my girl took it fine. Got one who keeps switching back though. I'll scent a rat and get her going on them for a couple feedings, then she'll go off food again and I have to put her back on the asf's to get her eating then try and switch her again.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

    Re: Switching from asfs

Send her to me if you can't find any feeders, my supplier has more of them than rats.

If she has only ever eaten ASFs it may be hard. If she has been exposed to rats and mice at some point it will be a good deal easier. You can prescent a small live rat with ASF smell by throwing used ASF bedding on it or leaving it in a ASF holding tub like Darkbird said.

bcr229, I see your in WV. Is your supplier Naked Acres? I think they just got rid of all of their ASFs to a guy in Richmond VA.

    Re: Switching from asfs

Yes I buy all my feeders from Paul. He took a load of ASF to VA a few months back, I know b/c we hauled them down and then brought back some 8' monster enclosures we purchased used. He still has ASF's and usually has them available more often than he has rats - we bought half a dozen ASF's yesterday from him. At least my "must have live prey because I hate f/t" BP's will take either rats or ASF's.
