    Burrowing BP

So I just got my girl back. She was in a nasty filthy cage with no heat or humidity. I got the cage cleaned out really well and sterilized, boiled the furnature and gave her a new water bowl she can climb in to, and clean soft substrate. I have only had her back about a day and ahalf. I was checking on her just now and she has burrowed most of her body down into the substrate under her hide. I needed a flashlight to see a bit of her pattern to find her. Is she too cold and is trying to get closer to the heat? They also took her thermometers and hygrometers and kept them. I will be replacing EVERYTHING on Friday. I also need to find my thermo/hygrometer that I keep in this house and put it in with her as a temp. Do you think shes too cool or looking for humidity? They real uth and thermostat are gone and they "leant" me an old human heat pad with a crappy rheostat I gave them when I upgraded to a thermostat. I do have a lightweight black blanket over her so she feels secure and my silly cat wont bother her. The room she is in right now till I get the proper set up stays around 76-78.

I have to wait to get stuff. This is why I don't like moving. I had to stock food for my husband son and I. I used to have everything for her and now have nothing. I have to go get everything again and it looks like a trip to Petsmart and online is in order. Also to Lowes for some stuff. Friday can't come soon enough. At least she now has some heat and humidity compared to before.

Well then I would definitely up the room temp a few degrees, it wouldn't hurt. I would say she's looking for heat more than humidity, but you could mist the tank every now and then.

It's really difficult to tell without the equipment (as you've already stated), so for now - if it were me - I'd just make sure the room is nice and warm. Friday is only two days away, so I think she'll be ok until then.
She could just want to burrow, too. My BP tried doing this when I added in a different substrate, and my corn does this on and off all the time; warm and cool side.

Good luck with everything, and try not to worry!

    Re: Burrowing BP

Yeah found one of my thermo/hygrometers. The temp is 77. I moved her cage to a warmer room, taped a blanket around all sides except a small area in front,. I also taped tin foil shiny side into the tank to reflect heat on most of the screen and have added a 60 watt red light. This is all temporary. Its about 80 in the living room so thats where I moved her. Humidity is sitting at 60%. Its just the stupid temp I need up. I am going over and seeing if its risen any. Just. Checked it. Temp has gone up to 82. Ok now feeling a little better. I should have thought about the temp coming up slowly. It takes a while to heat a big ole glass cage.

Yes that was helpful. I have moved her to the living room which is around 80 roght now. Her temp is now at 84. No sign of emergence yet lol. I think I hit on a quick fix till I get the right stuff for her. Humidity is still holding at 60%. Does anyone have experience with hydor hydrokable and hydroset for belly heat? It gets chilly where I live in the winter. I am also not a fan of the cold seeing as it makes me hurt really bad. I will just keep monitoring and adjusting for now.
