    Facebook vs Forums?

Do you use Facebook to connect with people in the industry or do you feel that the forums are still the best place to connect with other BP breeders/enthusiasts?
Or do you think there's a different outlet that is even better than the two of those?

I personally try to use all social media that I can as well as the forums.

I still think the best way to connect to other enthusiasts is to find out if there is a Herpetological Society in your area and go to the meetings. I think meeting face to face is better then social media.

    Re: Facebook vs Forums?

For me, it took me awhile to find a forum and join them. I recommend facebook because they have advertising system and very easy to access. But overall, without a person's interest or willing to find the page, it be still same whether you make facebook page or forum. Plus, you can ask some of the reptile facebook pages to give you a shoutout or something

    Facebook vs Forums?

I feel as a rat breeder and BP enthusiast that the both are completely beneficiary due to social media helps you connect with people in your area knowing their general location as to forums you have to post your location. Forums support more vital information to those new to access more quickly than social media. But IMO I like the forums better to connect with those who are more in tune or hoe I put it ecstatically love and embrace our Herps as if they were their own kids! All in all it's just a personal opinion on a case to case basses. Hope this helps you out! Thanks for the opportunity to let me express my views! :-)

I use both. I personally think I have gained more important relations and friendships with my fellow regular forum users. We've grown and gained experience together. I've met a few of them in person as well from finding them here. And through my regular posts, people get to know me as well.

Everyone on the the BP Facebook pages aren't as personal in my opinion. And the BP Breeder's Facebook page in particular are really aggressive folks who don't want to help newbies and have a 'breeders only club' mentality.
I'd like to think I'm pretty experienced, but I'm never finished learning new things. And I find that the forum is a very amazing education tool on top of finding those relationships.

Facebook is great for finding fellow reptile enthusiasts and connecting to folks, but actually talking to and befriending them on a personal level is a totally different thing. It's a little more difficult to do that without looking like a creeper in my opinion.
(And that's not counting me befriending my forum friends on facebook.)

    Re: Facebook vs Forums?

I use forums to do research or to find answers to questions since most have a 'Search' function. FB is most useful for finding breeders and service providers close to me.

Forums, Facebook, herp society, vending expos, visiting expos are the best way to network.

I think they each have something to offer that the other can't. Here are my complete thoughts on the subject:

    Re: Facebook vs Forums?

Facebook may be a better way to connect with more people, but people come to these forums to specifically talk about reptiles while the subject may be kind of back burner on the book
