    Smile Anyone use HerperPRO?

Okay so i wasn't sure where this would go so i figured General herp would be okay... lol.. Anyway I'm using HerperPRO and its great. But because I'm New to this. And new to owning BPs.

What is a Reptile ID? And do i make it or are they born with an ID number? Or does it go by there morph/breed? And is an ID important for the reptile?

I feel stupid for even asking this lol But i figured i should find out from more experienced owners.

So if someone can explain it to me that would be great. Lol Thank you very much! xD

You can make you own ID's

    I generally use:

YEAR OF BIRTH (YY) MORPH IN ALPHA ORDER (MMMMMM...) GENDER #

ie. [2012] [Butter/Spider] [Female] [the second one i have hatched that year]: 12BUSPF02

    Re: Anyone use HerperPRO?

I organize my hatchlings by year, clutch #, morph, sex and number.

    So 2013 Clutch 1 Butter male #1 reads 13C1_BTR_M1.

Now the number at the end is in corellation to morph and sex for the season not the clutch.

This year as an example I produced 2 male Butters in Clutch #1
    13C1_BTR_M1 and 13C1_BTR_M2.

Also had a male Butter in Clutch #5

    13C5_BTR_M3

That's just an example of how I organize and label my little ones.

Also I use Herper Pro and think it's great except for the European date format Year/Month/Day as opposed to the American standard Month/Day/Year.

    Re: Anyone use HerperPRO?

Okay so here is another question.

Lets say i have Two normal BPs right. And they come from the same Clutch. (Though im not a breeder yet. Im curious lol)

    Lets say its Clutch #4.
    [year][Gender][Morph/Normal][#]
    Would it go.
13FNORM01 and for the male go 13MNORM01 or 02? because its the Second in th clutch but also the first male thats counted? i hope that makes some kind of sense. . .

Or heres another one. I have two Normals Right now. From two diff places that i bought them. Would the Female Be 13FNORM01 and Same with the male. Or would i just put a 2 for the male to show that i have 2Normals? I don't want to get them mixed up and think that they where in the same clutch or something. Ya know? So what would be a Good way to sort them? etc..

Thank you for your time. and sorry for the stupid questions. But hey im learning. hehe

Its however you want it to go. For my records each snake has 4 pages. First is information (species, I.D. number, sex, morph, date of birth, date of purchase, weight when aquired, seller info, and a note section), second is feeding, shedding and weight, third is breeding records (which I havent been able to use yet), and fourth is medical records. So all my I.D. number consists of is species, sex, number. So ball python male 1 is BPM01.

For me gender comes first so if I hatched out 2 males and 2 females I would have BPM02, BPM03, BPF02, and BPF03. The way I do it I would start the babies of either sex at number 2 since the sire and dam would have the numbers 1 for their gender.

Neat program, just too much stuff that is useless to me. I track meal & dates. Then I track shed dates & weight after shed. I use cards that I have made and keep in a small mini binder. Works best that way and when I sell the snake the card goes with the snake so the owner has everything.
