    Re: Coral Glow Babies

In a funny way the hate they sometimes get is directly related to how good they look. If they weren't so different and beautiful then the initial demand would not have been so high. Meaning that the initial price would have been much lower. A lower price starting price would have not led to as much over production. Think about it the dream was that you buy one male for $25,000 or whatever and then breed it to 10 large normal females for minimal investment. You then get 20 or so that you think you can sell big money. Heck even if they dropped by 80% in one year they would still be $5,000. That would have represented $75,000 or so in profit. It's not surprising that this line of thinking led to them being over produced and hence the price dropping much faster than most anticipate.
It will be interesting to see where they settle at now that the economic incentive of huge profits decline and the prices get low enough to enter the pet market instead of only the breeder market.

And Josh I will be buying one from you in the next couple years. I have several other projects that I want to work on, but they are too beautiful to stay away from forever.

Just my .02 but I think adults look pretty impressive. I too love those black dots they get as they get older. Just like a real banana as it ripens....regardless of opinions, killer looking babies Josh!

    Re: Coral Glow Babies

Since when is a one year old considered an adult? Maybe I should have said mature adult. These babies look wonderful and you should be very proud of them.

Granted that adults of most mutations end up looking duller then the babies, however they don't usually end up looking like a completely different morph. These should lighten up more and more every year until they're nearly white with dark speckles. I'm not saying that they're bad looking as adults but they look completely different then they do as babies and I don't think most people will be expecting that much of a change.

When Kevin first posted pictures of the first coral glow hatchings, he did so without any explanation about there they came from. The speculation was rampant on how he went about producing those gems with most people suspecting that it was some kind of combo mutation. Nobody suspected that his imported white smoke male had been the father of the clutch, they just looked too different from each other.

    Re: Coral Glow Babies

Beautiful hatchlings! I love coral glows! I just picked up a coral glow het ghost male and I'm very excited to get into this project. Coral glows/bananas are definitely one of the most unique and eye catching morphs that's ever came along in the ball python world. (Ive enjoyed bps for over 13 years)Theres many 4 and 5 gene animals that don't look half as cool as a coral glow. Now that the prices are down people can have fun with this awesome genetic mutation. I remember when piebalds were 15k a piece and even pinstripes and spiders going for 3k. People need to get over it. Prices drop, you can still work w what you think is beautiful. I also love the adults! Some look better than others but I hope mine has tons of speckles cause its really weird looking! No one can say that a coral glow enchi isn't awesome or a coral glow leopard. There's too much hatred and bitterness in the bp community. Mostly from desperate people that i believe have foolishly overinvestd and are only in it for the money.I've worked hard to become financially free and now I can do whatever hobby I want.

I bought my champagne for $850 a year ago and now they are going for $250 a pop and you cant give them away....
