I'd definitely recommend getting a temp gun. They aren't too expensive if you go to a home depot or lowes, about 20 bucks. For general temps, I use an Accurite thermometer from Walmart. Like everyone's said, you're going to need to tweak things to get them perfect. Your ambient temps will determine what type of bulb you use. I like CHE because my enclosure is in my bedroom, and the red bulbs are kind of annoying IMO. I started off with a 100 watt, had to go down to a 75 watt because that was too hot. So just find what works best for you
