If you have time and energy to put into hunting you have time to either work extra shifts to pay for your pets or breed your own rats. Just my $0.02. There is no sense in harming wildlife unless needed. Also the risk to your snakes is not worth it. If you breed your own you know they are fed a good diet etc. that may be worth considering. I hear it isn't hard but it is a little smelly.
