    Ordered up the incubator

With gals looking like they may go sooner than later, figured I should stop dragging my feet on getting a incubator.

I was originally going to build one, but decided against it. I like the slick look of a PVC one, and I was also having a hard time findng the right fridge for conversion. So after some soul-searching and Google Fu, I decided on the Boa Master one.

    incubator1: Boa Master.com

Perfect size for my operation (holds 18 6qt tubs) and comes with the Herpstat Intro T-stat. For $660 shipped (unassembled), not the cheapest in the world, but a good price IMO for the size and features. It uses a RHP instead of flex-watt, so that will be interesting.

I will say the folks over at Boa Master have been fantastic at communication and answering any questions I had.

Honestly, I was waiting on AP to make a half-size of the current model they have, but who knows when that will happen.

I will of course update more when it gets here and I get is set-up.

wow! I didn't even know Boa Master made an incubator, but it looks very attractive. I was looking at a Hot Box Incubator, I think they're very nice and come in several sizes to choose from, although they're a bit on the pricey side, I really like how it looks and they sound reliable.

I looked at the hotbox stuff, but the shipping was crazy out to CA. That is the rate limiting step for a lot of incubators. I will not pay over $200 shipping for any single item.

I actually saw one of those at the expo today, it's very well built. Seems like a really good but. Be sure to make a review.

I like to make everything myself. I made this one with melamin, covering the inside walls with styrofoam, flexwatt, water bottles. It was very cheap and it holds a lot of tubs. Those in the picture are not 6qt, are bigger than that. Its not sealed, so you get air in and out and its really accuratte.

You will save a lot of money doing something by yourself and its more rewarding. IMO

    Re: Ordered up the incubator

Boy these things look nice but I think in general they are waaaay over priced given the supplies and man hours involved. Thermostat included or not. $550 for hotbox's smallest model. I'll definately be building mine from scratch. Or enlisting a fellow herper to build it for me for half or what the big boys want.
