If you can get him into some kind of insulated container/box/crate with some heat packs, he should be ok in the back of your truck. But I don't have any idea how realistic that suggestion might be for a 150 pound tortoise.
Try asking at tortoiseforum.org. Lots of great folks there with real world experience at moving the big ones.
