Best 2 gene male in my price range?
Early next year I'll be looking for a two gene dom/co-dom male that's either breeding size or well started (and I can get up to breeding size by Nov.). My price range will be between 4-500 and I already have a pastel and lesser in my collection. I'd like to avoid repeats, and I'd like something with spider. I just came back from an expo earlier today and the amount of multiple-gene animals was at a minimum and so I couldn't really get a good feel for anything. What would you recommend?
1.0 Banana Butter BP
1.0 Black Otter Rex rabbit
0.1 Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Stingerbee, enchi spider.

Spinner, black bee, or if you want to get into recessives honey bee.

Looking at your signature you don't have anywhere near enough females to be looking for more males. Buy more females.

stingerbee is a nice option as mike said, another option is a fire x spider. I held a female one back this year. I'm always looking at her and amazed by how bright she is. she will be going to my clown project. good luck with what you end up getting. don

i see 3 males, 3 females. and there is a pair of het pieds which obviously should be bred to each other to get some pieds. so, virtually, 2 males, 2 females.
whatever 2-gene combo male you get, it will probarbly displace both your lesser and your pastel male. which is of course an option; with normal females it makes sense to have a 2-gene male.
but with the ratios being as they are, getting nice single-gene females would be equally important.
about genes, i think enchi, pinstripe, spider, and fire would all be obvious choices. depending on what you like, also yellowbelly, mojave, cinnamon. most two-gene combos with these should be within budget for a male hatchling.

I plan on picking up three females around the time that I get this male, so I have taken that into account. I might settle for a spinner and use the extra money for female hatchlings. A stinger bee sounds really nice, enchis are pretty cool.

I just personally think Spider and Pinstripe are "female" genes. Don't care for my males with those genes. Thus I would personally rule out any Bee or Spinner.
Give me some Enchi and we are talking!! Enchi Pastel might squeeze into your budget. A Nuclear (Fire x Butter) is not out of reach either. Sugar/Calico Pastel?? Eh, now we're talking some good stuff here!!
I would strongly suggest scooping up a fistful of 0.1 Pastels at this point. They are worth their weight in gold when you get them up to size and are easily had for $50- $75 anywhere as babies. Try to find someone that will sell an adult for under $500? Just saying- they are a good choice for breeding stock.
Do not let people tell you that you are sitting too fat on males. Not every male will be a good breeder with every female you want to pair them with, so you need a backup plan for every female. The Lesser is a decent back-up plan. I was caught with my shorts down on males last year and did not breed 2 females because of it. This year I am already stocked up on double gene males that are locking already and I am sitting here wondering what I am going to "waste" my 1.0 Enchi Pastel on. I will sacrifice one of my 0.1 Pastels and 0.1 Normals to him
1.0 Sugar Fire x 0.1 Super Pastel- good stuff!!
