Okay, I'm going to make a grand admission....

I've had these snakes since 2008....

    Aaaannnndddd.....

Until today, I still get that woozy feeling if I have to pick these guys up myself. I always try to ask the kids to pick them up and hand them to me - but sometimes they just look at me with that, "Really, mom?" expression. Hah hah hah... I know. I'm pathetic. And I'm no stranger to bites - I've been bitten by my Amazon parrot on the face and several times on my arm. Hurts like the ****ens. Deep and bloody. Yet, I still pick up that bird. And I know the snake bite is going to be 10x less than that bird's damage... I just have to admit to myself that I got this crazy thing about snakes, take a deep breath, put my fingers together, palm flat, reach in, and hope for the best. Interestingly, I've never been bitten by these snakes!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I HELD HIM! Just now! I didn't have to use a cardboard tube or a hook or anything! I just ignored the tenseness, picked him up and after a couple of seconds, he calmed down! He was curious, and nice, and even rode around my neck! Thank you so much for your advice guys!
