    Sad Story

I was browsing around on facebook and I came across this which is very sad but true. It makes you rethink some things and surely made me reach out to a couple of friends that I haven't spoken to in awhile.

I had a friend that I kind of grew apart from my senior year, but I still kept in touch with her mom. I learned this last Fourth of July that she died the previous April from cancer. Made me feel horrible because I had never gotten around to making her the strawberry rubarb pie I had planned on making... I hadn't even known she passed... He'll, I hadn't even known she had cancer. She had looked quite healthy the last time I had seen her, which was just a couple months before she died...

That's really sad. If it weren't for social media I wouldn't have known about a few high school acquaintances deaths. It would be upsetting if I missed a friend's death. It does sound like he was giving off a lot of hints that his health was very poor though, but maybe those are more things you'd see in retrospect.

I had just about the same thing happen with a good friend of mine about a year ago. I sent her a few texts and a few facebook messages over a years time and finally found out she had passed away. I thought she was just in a bad place because she was a retired military police officer and had really bad PTSD. When I started getting really worried I facebooked a mutual friend and they sent me the news article of the day she went to the gun range and shot herself.... that was terrible terrible news

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

You all are very welcome. When I read this it kind of hit home because I lost contact with my best childhood friend during Katrina and during that time I had changed cell phone companies and got a new number along with it and his phone got disconnected. I searched for him for months after that and I was never able to locate him and I even had friends that were cops run his name to get an address but he never really had parents so he stayed from place to place with friends and I was always too late to find out where. After awhile I had all but given up but my sister ended up hearing something about him and she managed to find the obituary. He committed suicide the day before thanksgiving. It really hit home and it just really sucks because I never got to say goodbye. So around that time of the year I really don't look forward to even though many people do.

While I was in the UK from July-August another good friend was killed on a motorcycle and I didn't know until I got back and it's another person I let some time go by without spending time with because he owned a mechanic shop and I was really busy with work. I can honestly tell you the thing that hurts the most aside from losing a friend is knowing that you never spent time with them recently and not being able to say goodbye. So everybody should keep contact with the people they care about because you just never know when it's time for you or them to go.

    Re: Sad Story

I had a best friend in grade school thats a guy. We recently reconnected after 20 years a few years ago. Were both married, but his wife had a huge problem with us talking. She even threatened me on facebook. I dont know why, we were childhood best friends. Not bf/gf. After that, we lost touch again. Its a real shame cuz i feel like ill never get my friend back.
