Power Outage - will my snakes be okay?

Hi. We're experiencing a power outage here in Portland, Oregon. (My entire block is out, idk about anyone else) I'm positive someone will be out to fix it by morning. Will my snakes be okay for a night without power?? It's 68 throughout their cages

It's only been a few hours and they're very cold. That's why I'm concerned. Thanks.

You're good as long as the temps don't get in to the 50's ...

Example...If I was shipping and it was 68 degrees I wouldn't be using a heat pack...The snake would arrive just fine...

If the power stays out for more than 48 hours you should make a move.

The temps outside are about 65° so I do not think it'll get even close to the 50's. Thanks, again.

It doesn't help now, but since in my house it drops down to much colder during power outages, I have a "power outage kit". I keep those handwarmers you just shake or open to activate and an empty plastic tub. If the power went out, I would place the handwarmers underneath the plastic tub (not inside, I wouldn't risk my snake getting to the handwarmer directly). I would wrap the handwarmers in towels first, because they get too hot to be directly under your reptile. I would put it on one side of the tub so that she can choose to stay over it or not. I'd place another towel inside the tub so that she could bury in it or sit on top of it. I keep a temp gun and a little digital thermometer at hand too, and monitor the temperatures. I don't let it get as hot as her cage's basking spot because they aren't very steady and can get hotter without you noticing. If it's too warm, add more towels between the handwarmer and the tub. They stay warm for hours though, so it's enough to get you to the next morning.

I mentioned this on the other forum too, but in case you don't see it, in the case of an emergency and you don't have these items, you can put your snakes into separate pillow cases and use your own body heat to keep them warm. I wouldn't do this unless it's very very cold and I wouldn't fall asleep while you're doing this. Make sure you have someone else take care of your quarantined animal.

You should be fine tonight. Looks like it's 61 degrees there outside, so inside shouldn't get too much colder I would think.

Thank goodness!! The power is back on! This is the first time that I've ever been in a power outage.. I'm throwing an emergency kit together after work.

That is weird! Was it weather or just city weirdness? We've had power outages in Corvallis, but I live in the historical district... our wiring is interesting (though, knock on wood, the house I'm living in has never had electrical issues during the storms)

It was the weather! Which surprised me because it didn't seem bad enough to cause power issues. Even all the stores across the street (Grocery Outlet, Big Lots, Etc) went out! Plus my apartment is very old and not maintained whatsoever... Our heaters and dishwasher haven't worked in two years, the paint is thin and peels very easily, our front door shocks us when we touch it (no freaking joke!!), etc.. We're actually moving. But our wiring and electric is horrible. The only thing I have plugged in in my room is my phone charger and my thermostat. If I plug in anymore than that the fuse will blow...
