I posted in your other thread, and the options he's giving you are completely unacceptable IMO. He SHOULD do an exchange if that's what would make it right with you as he was at fault, and giving a discount IS NOT the best he can do to make this right. If you want to go that route then you do what will make you satisfied, but this is just bad business in my eyes.
What was his reasoning to sending you the wrong snake?
May I have the name of this individual so I can not deal with him/her in the future (you can PM me if you want to keep it private while you guys work it out)?

A 50$ animal isn't worth putting a bad mark on your name over. If this was close to the same quality animal, I could see a significant refund of part of the price and you keeping it. If it was a more expensive animal and I was the seller I would be sending you the correct one and having you ship this one back at my expense. Considering the cost of shipping is probably about what the animal is worth anyways, and knowing you're not satisfied with this one instead, I would just be shipping you out the animal you were supposed to get and telling you to enjoy my mistake.
The sellers mistake should in no way cost you more money to get the correct animal that you agreed to buy.
This does remind me of a slightly similiar situation that happened to me with ordering some fish. I was supposed to be getting in some freshly smoked salmon, my box and another accidently had the wrong labels placed on them. My box got to the others destination first, that customer called and after dealing with them, the fishery called me to tell me that my box went somewhere else, there was still a box arriving soon, made sure I was going to be available to recieve my correct order the following day and that the box arriving was going to have about 15 pounds of swordfish in it and to offer advice on how to cook it if I needed it. That has always stood out to me as an amazing example of great customer service and I have given them business several times since then.

I would ship you the correct animal, and let you keep the animal I already sent you...good business and customer service will always pay off. if I screw up, then I do WHAT EVER IT TAKES to make my customer happy and get them the animal they wanted....it is a breeders RESPONSIBILITY to offer their customers absolute 100% healthy animals, and absolute 100% great customer service.
that was my thought, im going to keep the animal though, it is not the animals fault and im assured I can still get quality animals from him, but I do not need another male pastel, I may just ask for what I paid for this animal off the cost of a female, probably a lesser, spider or another pastel. If he doesn't like it I will tell him ill be putting up reviews and name him on several sites

he honestly said he deals with so many snakes he can't remember who wants what. The entire time I was thinking, when you make a sale, put a note or some kind of reminder of what customer wanted what snake on the tub or wherever you think you will remember for when you ship it

I'm not too sure what else I can add here, everyone here has given excellent advice! I would probably keep the snake and ask for a refund if it were me. I just find it weird by rewarding the seller to pretty much force you into buying another snake from him because of his mistake. But please do keep us posted!!

I understand people get really busy and make mistakes. As a up and comer in the Bp market he needs to make a decent name for himself. Doing things like this will not help...If you F up, accept it and do what you can to leave the buyer happy...aka he needs to send you the snake you wanted or send you a refund,,,

Re: wrong snake, compensation?
Ask him to make it right through partial refund. May I ask how you paid? If via cc or paypal, you can always contest the charges, as you did not receive the item you paid for. They are on your side. This always gets a merchants attention, as the cc company can charge the amount back to him. You will have to prove your case, and I'm not sure visa can tell one snake from another, but if you have an email from the breeder saying he sent you the wrong snake, that would be golden.
Just a thought, and a suggestion I didn't see yet.
Good luck, keep us posted.
