Wooden enclosure! How to seal it?
Hey y'all..i acquired a wooden enclosure made of plywood...what can i use to seal it to make it easy to clean from pee and poo.and to be safe for my female RTB...in my research i have read to use, enamel latex paint..which don't seem too bad to me..but i have 100% acrylic latex paint..that seems to me that it would be better suited to seal the wood and be safer for reptiles..

anything non-toxic and water proof i believe rustoleum has a few that are used for children's toys try lowes or home depot read carefully. when in doubt look at MSDS website for certain Paints or Products.

I've used urathane spar varnish before and it's held up really well to heat and moisture.

Jen I built my oak ply cabinet and cage I used Mineax water based oil-modified polyurethane. It is non toxic once cured. Very durable. I used 5 coats on the inside and G.E. 1 windows and door silicone for all the inside seams.
Worked out perfect. I also had tile floor grouted in and sealed the grout with water based sealer. It was originally a cage for a beardie but converted for a ball python after.

Polycrylic works very well too. I used that she. Making basking spots and caves for my beardie. Just covered the grout models in water based paint and 7-8 coats of Polycrylic. Those had to be washed heavily because of beardie gifts . Just remember to let Polycrylic or water based (oil modified) polyurethane cure for a week in a well ventilated area to be safe. I think Polycrylic may cure in 4-5 days but I would let it go a week after your last coat. Both products stand up very well to cleaning and wear and tear.
Good luck!

Wooden enclosure! How to seal it?
I took linoleum and lined my boa cage with it. I screwed it up in place and sealed the seams with silicone. Easy clean up!
