concerning shed please help
I have a large adult male. 5 1/2 ft 3200 grams. Background: he sheds monthly due to abuse from past owner. He has rat bites and scratches deep in both eyes and is blind. His body sheds thinking it can heal but it can't. Poor guy. The concern is that he just shed and this is the first time I have ever seen blood on a shed from any shake. There was a good amount of blood aroubd the vent on the shed. But no blood on my snake and none on the bedding (paper towels) should I be concerned?

Re: concerning shed please help
Hi,
It's normal to have a few spots of blood near the vent when shedding - the skin inside is quite delicate and, as long as it isn't a lot of blood or keeps bleeding, it generally isn't a problem.
I'd quite like to see pictures of the snake to see how bad the other wounds are though if possible.

Some streaks of blood can be normal. I don't see it often, but it does happen sometimes.

The damage to him is very sad to hear. I am glad that you rescued him from the previous owner. Please show some pics.

i dont have pics available at the moment and with my work schedule i wont be home for a few daysto take any. dont worry i do have a helper when im not home to keep tubs clean and change water so im not neglecting them either. most of my snakes are rescues. this one in particular is the worst case. one eye has a few deep scratches that dont appear to be healing with sheds. and the other eye is actually partially white from a deep scar. you can atually see his eye turn cause the white moves so i know they eye muscles still function. the vet did say it doesnt look like it will risk infection but he is blind and will probaby never heal. he shows no signs of aggression though. very tame and very friendly. also happens to be my only ball python that is not head shy(infact he actually loves when you rub the top of his head and under his jaw at the same time) and shows no signs of twitching when something moves really fast by him. when you open his tub he always comes out and goes straight to you face where he will lick you before sliding up your arm to your neck where he will just relax for hours if you let him. i swear it thinks its a dog lol
