    subtrates and things

I had mites about 3 weeks ago, i sprayed the tank down with a RID/water solution, snake had no mites on him, lightly. lightly. sprayed him with the RID/water solution, just to be sure. But i threw away the old substrate and he was onpaper towels for the past 3 weeks. everything i had in his tank was put through the washing machine, decoration wise, his water bowl, hide, fake plants. I also bought a new bag of aspen that i put in the freezer for about a week and now its still in the fridge. The sphagnum moss i boiled and than strained and repeated this like 5 times, i put that in the freezer as well. My questions are... can i put them back in yet? Also additionally, my friend is giving me his 20 gallon long tank today. Can the zoo med uth be restuck to this new tank? Thanks for giving it a loook

If the mites are gone you can switch back to your preferred substrate.

If you are extremely careful you can pull off a Zoo-Med UTH and have it still work, but it usually breaks them in the process. (They aren't designed to be removed)

treatment should be done 3 times with each treatment 7 days apart to make sure you catch any hatching baby mites.

I remove mine all the time lol. I know they're not made for it but I've not had any issues ever before. Though I'm careful though.

In the future, if you want to reuse your UTH, you can always tape up the sticky part, then tape the rest of it to the bottom of your tank -- with ALUMINUM FOIL TAPE, of course!
It's fire retardant, and allows most of the heat to come out fine (mine still got up to 114F, when I let it go without a thermostat before I got the BP).
I folded over the edges of the tape so that I can gently pull it off when I move my snake to a larger enclosure.

    Coco Husk?? yes/no

hi guys we are new to the site so I apologise if this topic has already been discussed , but can someone please give me advice on what substrate to use?? we are from South Africa and the only substrates available are Coco Husk , Kenaf which is a hibiscus , peat and the regular news paper ,, we currently have our bp's on newspaper but would like to keep them on something that holds a lil more humidity and so preferably would like to use the coco husk or kenaf .... has anyone used these products and maybe able to give us a few pointers?? thank you
