    Flex watt heat tape question.

    Hello everyone,
Im having an issue with my heat tape, I have a double door pvc enclosure one side is my baby and the other side is my adult bp.

Now heres the issue, the adult ball python located on the right is getting enough heat but the baby on the left side is not.
It seems like the heat tape losses its heat as it goes down the tank. Is there anyway to fix this?
Has anyone had or dealt with this before?

    Thanks.

Could you post a picture of the set-up?
I am thinking you are using just one piece of heat tape, correct?

Are the basking temps different on each side? Is that the problem? And yes pics would help tremendously

x3 on being confused. Pictures would be the best way to describe than if needed be you can give more of a description after. But right now you're describing something to us that we've probably never seen so we have no idea what kind of advice to offer.

Re: Flex watt heat tape question.

    Hey there!

I have one piece of flexwatt heattape running along the bottom of the enclosure with aluminium tape running over it to keep it in place. I can't take a picture of it because I would have to take everything out, stress the animals and flip the enclosure over. However, I'm using a thermostat to keep the basking spots at the correct temperature and I believe it was a problem with the stat, not the tape. I have been monitoring the temps very closely with my electric propes and my electric spot thermometer so I believe the issue is resolved. I think it was just me being a little too concerned and not realising the problem. Anyways, thanks for the interest, everyone!

Depending on the location of the tape, it could be covering up the heating element of the tape. What are you using to control it?
