    stop getting bitten

Hi! I've seen a lot of posts about people joining the "Bite Club" in only the last few days! It may seem like something to be proud of, but it's not! Snakes can loose teeth > lost teeth can cause mouth infections > Mouth infections can cause death or death to your wallet (vet bills). Here's how I cut out the chance of getting bitten during feeding (I've noticed that's when a lot of people have gotten their snake kisses). Golf club + bobby pin = awesome snake tong! How do you make one? Cut off the end of a golf club (I used a saw), weld/melt a bobby pin to the club, and you're done! There are a few sharp edges on mine, so it had to be taped (until I can sand it down) and Idk how sturdy it is. Threw it together pretty quickly. Works for any size snake.

Didn't you learn your lesson last time?

Who goes into a cage trying to get bit? Besides snakebytes.

    stop getting bitten

Um...I can only speak for myself, though I have a feeling most others are the same, but I've NEVER purposefully tried to get bitten. The 'bite club' is just a fun little way of dealing with the unexpected bite. I know I was pretty scared of getting bitten in the beginning, but now that I've been bitten more times than I can count, I know it's nothing to fret over.

Obviously I'm aware of the dangers that a bite can pose for the snake, as I'm sure everyone who's researched their animal is. For the record, I always use tongs, but sometimes a bite is inevitable.

Ok my apologies, I must've read your post in the wrong tone. It definitely came across like you thought people were provoking their balls to bite in order to join the bite club lol

Sorry if that was worded a little funny... I know that no one tries to be bitten. And I know that bites are definitely inevitable! I wasn't feeding or anything when my Ball Python got me. I forgot who, but for example; someone was saying how they dropped a mouse, and got bitten picking it back up. Could've been avoided (easily). I was only suggesting tongs for people who are new, and feed by hand! Sorry if I offended any members!

I re read it and I got that too.. Definitely NOT what I was saying! Sorry! Lol (just got a little funny image of some guy yelling at his snake "just bite me already!! I NEED to be in the bite club! Lol)

Lol I plan on using tongs no matter HOW experienced I may become. The only guys I don't tong feed is hoggies, but only because I trust them not to take my hand off like a hungry ball would

I think this is where I went wrong... What I meant by this is that the first time I got bitten I was like " oh look at this gnarly snake bite!" And I was so caught up in that, that I wasn't fully concentrating on the effects it could have had on my snake. Not necessarily that anyone had the intent of being bitten ( I really hope NO ONE does...)

I trust all my snakes fully, and I did feed by hand for a while, however; we all make mistakes... Even our pets do! And I didn't want my snakes to pay if they accidentally bit me, so I made a ginormous tong.
