Had to share my first bite story

I thawed two weaned rats for Allure as usual. The first one he ate fine but got a piece of shavings stuck sideways (like a bit) in his mouth. He wasn't able to maneuver it out on his own so I without thinking, with my hand smelling like rat and all nice and warm, attempted to get it out so I could feed him the next rat. It happened so fast and I didn't think I pulled back, but my boyfriend said I did as a reaction. Allure struck and hit my thumb and pointer finger. He immediately jumped back and went to the back of his T8. I've never seen a snake look ashamed but boy did he. He went behind his hide and seemed to not want to look at me. I felt SO bad. He just looked so ashamed of himself. I ended up getting the shavings out of his mouth and after some coaxing and the hairdryer got him to eat the second rat despite the ordeal he went through. He's my champion eater. I'm hoping my two girls take after him.

I got one teeny tiny pinprick of blood on my thumb. But I was pleased to get my initiation into the bite club after owning him for eight months.

WELCOME! I got my first BP bite the other night. Completely my fault, thawed out a rat and accidentally dropped it, and went to pick it up with my hand (stupid move) and got tagged by my little 200g Mojave girl. I instantly thought, dang that was completely my fault. Tiny little prick, but shes still one of my most well-behaved snakes.

Hey, welcome to the BP bite club. I recently joined on Saturday.

I'll be making a thread and posting the pics when I'm not lazy which will probably be tomorrow night.

Just some advice for the future; don't worry about them getting a little bedding in their mouth from time to time (as long as there's not a lot in their mouth's).

    Welcome to the bite club.

When some of my bp's get shavings in their mouth, I'll use the 12" tweezers to remove it which normally works no problem. I can't stick my hand in the black pastel tub if the smell of food is in the air without getting struck at.
