Meph, best advice I can give you is to figure out what species of colubrids you want to get into then go from there. I think they mostly classify stuff as colubrid if it can't fit into another category.

With that standing that each snake can vary for the most part. Corns are easy going and you can get some cool morphs for a really nice price. A lot of people start off with them. Milks can be a bit flighty, some more than others and depending on what kind. Kings, most of them i have played with pull some attitude but again depends on what kind but they are cool too. Ive only handled 3 hoggies ever and they were awesome. This is only from my personal experience though. I only have 1 colubred but had a bit of play time with others. Check out the cornsnake forums, good place to lurk, its where i started off before i wanted a bigger animal(s)
