    Cooling period.

    Does a cooling period have to take place for ball pythons to mate or can they breed without it?
    If you do need the cooling down period, which thermostat do you use to get the correct temperatures?

    Cooling periods are not necessary.
    Ball Pythons can breed with or without it. They're more responsive to barometric pressure. Rain and storms seem to make them more frisky.

    I personally do not cool in order to avoid the unnecessary risk of respiratory infections.

    I didn't cool at all this year and had no issues.

    This. I always watch the weather during breeding season...and ALWAYS make sure I pair up during storms...almost never fails...

    I don't cool at all. Ambient temps usually fluctuate enough on there own going from summer to winter (assuming you don't set your house at the same temp year round).
