Only bad thing about Alienware is the price markup on Dells premium brand.
I have:
CPU - i7-2700k (Corsair H80i Water cooler)
MOBO - Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
Disk Drives - OCZ 4 Vertex 256GB SSD & Seagate Barricuda 7200rpm 1TB HDD
Ram - G.Skill Ripjaw 16GB DDR3 1600
Vid Card - EVGA GTX Titan Superclocked
Case - Coolermaster Storm Sniper
PSU - Rosewill 1000w Bronze
Keyboard - Logitech K800
Mouse - Razer DeathAdder
Then I have a Creative Fatal1ty gaming headset. I had the Sandbridge Extreme but I figure by the time I'll need anything over a quad core processor they'll have much better options out so I returned it and got the 2700k. I'm not a fan of Ivy Bridge/Haswell because of the issues with higher temps because they skimped and used some cheap thermal paste which can be fixed easily but if I'm not mistaken that can void the warranty.

I played 900 bucks. In April. Not too bad but they were liquidating for the new model. Also I got it on Tiger Direct.

See I currently have what I think is either a 23 or 24" Dell IPS monitor, but I replaced it with a 1440 resolution IPS monitor, so I'm stuck with a monitor that I paid around $250 for and that only has about two months operating time on it, lol.

Alienware was overpriced long before Dell bought them.
I've built ever PC I've had except the last one because for the first time it was actually no difference between buying it prebuilt and buying all the parts and putting it together myself. It's a bit old now but I could run Wow on max when I still played 2 years ago. And Skyrim plays great on it.
Most of my gaming in on the Xbox now though.

What do you mean no difference between buying prebuilt and doing it yourself? Are you referring to the cost or performance? If the cost then there is a lot of difference, but if you're referring to performance then it all depends what you went with versus what they'd use.

*Cracks up laughing* As a Final Fantasy 11 player we always referred to WOW as "Final Fantasy for Dummies".
Sorry GA, couldn't help myself. Oh how I miss my Taru.

I am referring to the cost. But that was 4 years ago. I did a cost comparison between buy all the parts I wanted and a prebuilt unit with the exact same or close enough that it didn't matter parts. The prebuilt unit was ~550. The DIY parts were about ~$500. Factor in the labor and going the prebuilt way was just a no-brainer for me at the time. I don't get enjoyment from putting PC's together. It just made fiscal sense for a long time. It might be that way again but I won't know till I need a new PC which won't be for a good while.

I wanted a nice gaming laptop so building my own vs. taking up a huge free-bee list and labor day discounts... i got a 2200$ laptop for 1450 + shipping.
Only thing i might toss at this in the future if the SSD's drop in price is 2x250 for raid0
