I covered the sides, just because I liked the look of it better. I just made her two new hides out of tupperware (I painted the outsides and used a woodburning tool to cut and opening) because she was not able to squeeze her while body into her previous ones...growing! My tank is pretty cluttered, but from what I have read, they like that.
My little one is in a 20g, too...for now. She uses both hides and is out exploring at night.

Re: Three Questions
To add a little more to question 3-
One thing I've done if the tank seems really cramped is use a hide on one side and put fake plants to hide under on the other. Or use fake plants on both sides along with branch-like items. Plants/vines with large leaves to hide under work well. Sometimes it works well to get them to periscope too (unfortunately I don't have pics ).
PS. Kameo- Nice set up. Gives me a good idea for my guy. Is that a parrot ladder you're using?

Thanks! Yep, parrot ladder. I clear coated it, for cleaning sake. I just hooked it into the top. It takes a little getting used to when you are taking the top off, but not bad. She uses it at night a lot. Much cheaper than a "reptile" climbing branch. I think it was $4? Maybe $6?

Thanks, that's nifty.
