    Power outage

So I got home from work today (worked 10-6) and I noticed my snakes tanks heat were all out. We had a really nasty storm and when we lost power the surge protectors cut the power to the heat pads and lights. They were in my room which has a ambient temperature of 68-70 degrees.. Will this harm my snakes if they have no heat for 7 hours? I know snakes get shipped in room temperature for over a day but I am worried about a possible RI since they are still in quarintine. Should I ditch the surge protector? What is a safe way to run power so I know my snakes and my house are protected in events like this?

Your snakes should be fine, just get them back up into better temps asap

They will be fine. They spend entire weekends in 70 degree temps during snake shows and do fine. I wouldn't worry too much, even backup batteries only give you a few hours tops so they aren't worth it IMO. If it goes out while you're home you can fill bottles with hot water and put them in or around the tanks.

    Power outage

Ok thank you. We have been having power outages daily here because of severe storms and I know ball pythons are fragile and my house is cool and I do not want any RI's. If i plug my heat sources directly in a outlet the power restores as soon as the power is back but the surge protector cuts power until I reset it which could be all day which makes me nervous. But the surge protector will also cut the power for safety reasons so I am stuck on how I should run my heat sources, especally when my bee and pied go in their rack with my mojo after quarintine.

You might want to get a different surge protector. I have an expensive electronics surge protector on my incubator and it resets and turns back on, as does my super cheap one on my breeder rack. The power in this little town goes out every time it rains.
