Used enclosure question

I found a used animal plastic enclosure for sale. I need to upgrade my current tank and for the price of this thing its cheap. Comes with flexwatt and light, demension are 36"x34"x15". Would this be big enough for a ball python to live in for rest of time? Do you guys think buying used is bad? It needs a cleaning he mention because it is dirty so I don't know proper cleaning for it.

Yes that is more than enough space - I have a T8 from AP which measures at 48Lx24Dx12H, I use a divider to split they cage in 1/2, each side gives enough space to house 1 adult ball python.

That's definitely a proper size for a ball python to live a long happy life in. As far as cleaning goes I used bleach and dilute it with water. It always gets everything super clean and you never have to worry about lingering germs. Most things don't survive a good bleach cleaning. After I use the diluted bleach solution I usually let the enclosure air out for a while just to make sure any of the bleach smell is gone.

Ok cool, so you guys think buying used will be ok? What should I do when going to look at enclosure? He sent me some pictures already and everything looks good.

If it's a good price, I'd jump on it! Just make sure there aren't any cracks, the glass is secured properly, etc. I'd be a little leery of the used flexwatt. If you intend tp keep it, let the enclosure run for at least a week with close monitoring for any temp fluctuations.

Definitely agree. Running the used flexwatt for a while to make sure temps don't spike or drop too low would be nice to know before you introduce your snake into its new home. You could get some new flexwatt heat tape pretty cheap on Reptile basics.com if the used kind malfunctions. They have all different sizes to fit your enclosure properly tell us how everything goes. Keep us updated.

Found out the bottom of enclosure (the floor) has a dent the size of a quarter in it. What would you guys do? He's asking $100 for it.

It doesn't sound that bad. It's just a dent, no puncture or anything? If you can, get a cup of water and pour it over the dent, see if there's any bubbles coming up or drips from the bottom. I doubt it'd compromise the integrity of the enclosure. Maybe ask him to drop it $20
