ok my girl is telling me that the male rat can sense if the female is prego and wont mate with them anymore .. is this true? cause my boy was humping like crazy the 1st 2 days in with them but now isnt doing nothing ..

Males only mate if a female goes into heat(every 4 days) Some frisky boys may try to breed slightly earlier. They generally won't breed if the female isn't in heat or sexually receptive.

If a female becomes pregnant, the males won't breed until the litter is born. Once a female drops a litter, she goes into heat for a few hours after birth. If she isn't bred within that time window, she cannot breed or become pregnant again until the litter is weaned.

I can usually tell when my females become impregnated because after they've mated a few times, she squeaks every time the a male comes near her.

yea my females where beating dude up .. i think there prego idk its my 1st time ... will see what happens im gonna leave him in there for a while longer just to make sure .. when do the females start showing?

with my mice, its about 10-14 days after and you can tell there preggo for sure.
