    Thoughts on shedding?

Well, I just orderd my first snake.
I bought a HYPO (Orange Ghost) female.
The guy is going to hold her until my tub is setup and ready for her.

Now I got my tub supplies on the way, I'm looking down the road a few weeks...

Right now, with nothing in the tub at all, I'm seeing humidities between 40/50%.
    No water bowl, no nothing.

I know when BP's get ready to shed, their belly can turn pink, and the eyes turn colors... but if you can't see, is it possible to even know when it will be getting ready to shed?
Maybe she'll get dry, or something?

I know some people don't even notice the snake is fixing to shed until it happens. lol

I know if my humidities are good, it might not matter as much, but just getting peoples thoughts on this topic.

B/c say my humidities stay between 50/60, I might need to bump the humidity a little during shed, but I may or may not be able to notice this...

    Thoughts on shedding?

As you get familiar with her, you'll be able to see the difference. They do feel slightly different before a shed, also. Congratulations, and welcome to the addiction!

If I've missed them going blue (it happens pretty regularly for me, since if they're in their hides during the nightly rounds I just leave them be) I usually notice because they kind of look like they're browning out (freaks me out every time) but I have axanthics, I think hypos look more washed out than normal. Once you have your eye tuned in to her regular appearance, you should be able to spot the shift in tone pretty easily.

So sorry, missed the part about not seeing her, but yes I think they are slightly rougher feeling, especially in the period as they come out of blue but before the skin actually sheds.

    Lol no worries.

I'll need to remember to ask the last time she shed, so I can try to get an idea of when it might happen next I guess...

Frequency of sheds is all dependent on how much/often you feed the snake. The more you feed it, the more it grows, the more it sheds. Like others have said, once you know what she looks like you'll know when she's in shed. Hypos are slightly more difficult, but they look ridiculous hypo, so you should still notice. Also, the scales on their belly tend to feel like they are loose and catch on your skin when they are in shed.

Guess I should have been a little more clear on the "can't see her" part. lol

I'm blind, so even once I have her, her looks will stay a mistery. lol
    Sorry for the confusion.

But, from what I'm hearing, once I'm able to be more hands on with her, once she's eaten a few times for me I'll be able to feel the difference after a while.
