Also, depending on what kind of vehicle you have, can you plug in an extension cord to your car and run the cord up to your tank? I did by an inverter that I can plug into my cigarette lighter that I can plug into the extension cord.

I'm not gonna be able to justify purchasing a generator for one snake. My folks simply wouldn't allow it :p
we see PGE trucks outside doing stuff in the road, so hopefully it gets fixed by tomorrow. Otherwise I'm going to have to find somewhere to plug his stuff in lol

If you're talking about the inverter I think I got it for about $30 at Fred Meyer. You can probably get one at wally world as well.

Re: Help urgently!!!!! Power outage!!!!!!!
A hot water bottle with a towel wrapped around it will be fine as long as the warmth can get through the towel and the snake can't touch the bottle if the water is very hot. I have had this happen in the past and used my thermometer to check water temp and started wrapping a towel around it until the temp was safe then cut off the extra and taped it so it wouldn't come off and did that to quite a few bottles and then cover the tank with another towel to trap the heat in. That is about the best you can do and just keep doing it until the power comes back on. If you have an electric water heater then you can warm water in a pan on a grill or if it is legal over a fire in a firepit. That is the best I can offer and I hope everything works out for you.

He's fine, really. Is this your weather report?
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...A#.Uh2Q1hY5Nj0
There's some danger if you're in the desert like I am, and the A/C is out, and the inside temps go above 100F for many hours. But he can go all the way down to 60F for a few hours and he'll be okay. 70F won't hurt him at all. Ball pythons are actually pretty tough critters.

(I don't even recommend the hot water bottle thing with those outside temps, because he's much, much more likely to burn himself on the bottle than he is to get sick from 70F.
If you were in Minnesota and it was winter time, THEN you'd want to start putting water bottles on top of the tank and wrapping the entire set-up in down comforters.)

Re: Help urgently!!!!! Power outage!!!!!!!
I should add that when I did that it was the dead of winter back in 98/99 when we had a huge winter storm and everything was frozen. I should also add that doing what I said should only be done with low temps and in extreme situations, where they are right now there is no need.

Re: Help urgently!!!!! Power outage!!!!!!!
if I read the post right. it's only one snake in a tank. if the power is going to be out for any length of time and it becomes a concern for you. take the one snake in it's tank to a friends house and plug in there.
