It pains me to hear about truly needful questions falling through the cracks. It happens, though. We do our best, as a whole, to catch them all, but we're not a flawless community, and with the size and speed at which things move around here, it is sure to happen more than just once.
What can you (the universal "you") do to help prevent that? WATCH the new threads on a regular basis. Look for threads with zero replies or maybe only one or two replies and then see what you can do to step in and give them the attention they deserve. That's all any of us can do. I say this especially to those that seem to take it personally when a question is not given the attention it deserves...what are YOU doing to step in and make that situation better? Sometimes, even if you don't know the answer to the question, a simple friendly "bump" will bring it back to the top of the active list so that the person who might know the answer has a better chance of seeing it.
As for the practice of "necromancing" old threads...I really don't have a problem with it, and I do get annoyed with the members that seem to make it a habit to mock anyone who dares to bump up an old thread. That being said, I DO see the problem with old threads getting bumped, because people start replying to the original post of the thread without realizing it's a few years old and then feel a bit foolish and like they've wasted their time when they realize their reply is no longer relevant. BUT...when people find and respond to those old threads, it means they ARE using the vaunted SEARCH FUNCTION which so many get told they should use. I don't think there is anything wrong with making a note that an old thread has been bumped because maybe it'll save someone a bit of time replying to a thread they don't need to reply to. BUT, I think it is wrong to ridicule those who do so because more often than not, it's a new person that we WANT to feel welcomed here.
All in all, I think we should all be a bit more tolerant of each other AND learn not to take things so personally.
I don't think we need a special, named "club" to accomplish any of this, but if a group of our members want to get together and make an organized, collective effort to catch those lost questions and make members feel welcomed, then more power to them. Whatever works to make our site better.

I'm just gonna throw this in here...
Why is there such a problem with a group of guys wanting to start a helpful club? If it isn't against the rules, and they aren't doing anything wrong, then why does everyone have their panties in a bunch about it?
If this site "already does that"(help people out) then why is there an issue with people starting a club with a name, to more formally do that? If you don't wanna be a part of the club, then just don't ask to join, very simple. Let us form a club and continue to do just that.
I just fail to see a problem with a few members trying to "do more." It's met with, "if you want to do more just get out there and post instead of forming a club."
If you want us as a community to do more, then stop wasting your time on this thread, telling everyone how pointless it is, and go help a new member, instead of absolutely pointlessly sharing your opinion about a club that is not doing anything wrong, trying to be even more helpful, and you want no part of.
If you don't like it, just don't join. Super simple stuff people. No need to rustle your jimmies over something with good intentions.

So if I understand it right YOU can share YOUR opinion about an idea but anyone that does not see the point of such idea (no one said they opposed it) can't?
Sounds like great mentality already (question nothing and don't disagree)
Now who is getting his panties in a bunch?

Look at the number of rustled jimmies in this thread and look how many times I've posted about it. I rest my case.
My point, there is no point in opposing something if there are no real issues(site rules, morality, ethics) and defending an idea that is being questioned like it committed a crime, is not getting your panties in a bunch.
Can somebody answer me this? What real ground does anyone have to oppose this group if it isn't doing anything wrong?
Sure you are entitled to an opinion, but why is it necessary to oppose something started with such good intentions?
Next on the agenda, lets go harass all those lousy charities! Bunch of no good "cool kids" clubs just trying to exclude people because they got rejected from another club!

I've already gone over this with Neal and tried to explain to him i was just as entitled to give my opinion As he was to give his.. He then proceeded to call me childish and leave me negative feedback just for giving my opinion. What a great representative he is for the breakfast club :/ lol

I'm not quite catching what you're throwing. Are you saying that the idea is doomed because of people's inability to accept something that has literally nothing wrong with it?
