I dont' know what to tell ya, Pirranha. I'd be pretty nervous, too, if I were gonna drop a couple of $K. Have you spoken with him on the phone? See if you can do that, and get as much personal information from him as possible. If he's legit, he shouldn't mind sharing that info, and spending some time with you to help you trust him. I know when I start breeding, if that much money is on the line, I will do everything I can possibly do to ensure my buyers that I'm trustworthy.
You'd hate to miss out on a good deal because you didn't trust someone that turned out to be legit. The posts on BOI are very helpful, but really only in certain circumstances...mostly extreme ones. The problem with this industry is that so many people get into the "business" who have no business running a business. It's not that they are bad or dishonest people, it's just that they don't have the training, the mental-make-up, the organizational skills, people skills, or whatever, to run a business. So even though they are usually great people to know, they make mistakes in their business. Then someone needs a big refund and they may not have the cash, so they avoid the e-mails or phone calls until they can figure out how to fix the problem. I'm not saying that's right...just that it's not a sure indicator that the guy doesn't have a nice pair of 100% hets he wants to sell you.
I've probably done nothing but muddy up the water for you. :? But if I were in your shoes, I would just see if the guy is willing to go the extra mile to help you trust him.
