so what is everyne using for humidity .. im thinking of switching if i find something better .. right now i got a digital termom that test temp and humid off a probe in every tub .. but i feel like there inconsistant so i wanna get some info on what everyone is using

I haven't checked my humidity levels in about 5 years...

Lots of people swear by Accurites...I'm not among them though...

I don't keep too close of an eye on humidity personally. I use aspen bedding with spigmot moss mixed in. I spray it down a couple times a week and as long as they are shedding well, eating well, and not showing signs of resp - then they are okay. Being where I am in Canada, humidity in the summer is fine without having to do much. In the winter it get's kinda cold and high humidity results in resp infections. So I don't spray unless they are deep in blue. My boas get hit the worst with resp, but I've only had one case of resp with my balls..

But I also use a rack system so it's easy to maintain proper humidity.

As you gain experience with the normal feel and health of your animals you can tell just by handling them whether they are having issues with humidity.

well im not that good yet lol not even a year in yet .. im sure i can go by eye too but im not ready to put myself in that position yet id rather becarful until i know exactly what im doing

I don't worry about humidity. If I see a snake is going into blue, I move their water dish over their heat source. That usually helps bump up the humidity.

I haven't checked the humidity level in years. I don't really have to, my snakes shed great and are healthy. I guess it is easier to control heat and humidity with racks than, for example, tanks and other cages.

Same here humidity used to sorry me but I have gone back to aspen and mist occasionally but when one is in blue I put some sphagnum moss in the hide wet and don't have issues with shedding.

I have a singular dial hydrometer, and as long as it says 60% +- 5%, I know I'm fine. That's also in one of my five cages, all arranged the same.

Haven't had an issue, except when bowl tipping Olympics are going on.
