Ever have as nake that just likes the water bowl?

So I had a moment of panic: my bumblebee was sitting in his water bowl. My first thought was "MITES" because I'm so paranoid. I took him out and scrutinized him, and saw nary a single mite. Then I remembered I've caught him snugly tucked into his bowl with no water in it at all, and was wondering if maybe he just didn't like the snug coil spot. My husbandry is correct; 91 hot spot, ambient temps of 78-82 in this room. I can't imagine where he'd get mites IF that were the case, but none of my other snakes are acting strangely. Of course, for what is worth, this particular boy IS what I refer to as derp-y; he's always been a bit "slow" or doing something odd.

So have you ever had a snake just like to sit in the water bowl? I know I can switch his bedding to paper towels to double check. I kind of think it's just because his water bowl has such a small diameter, he wants to coil on it. There's a way for him to coil up in the bowl yet not touch the water, he just braces himself on the sides; it really is a small bowl. Don't know why he'd do that though; he's always used his hides, and they're perfectly snug.

I hope it's just a new odd habit of his, but if it is, then grr, I now have a water-splasher.

You mentioned temperatures but not humidity. They will soak if the humidity is too low for whatever purpose they may have which is usually shedding.

My male corn snake will curl up in his every time he's given the chance. Granted, he's a corn snake so different temperament, but he still does. It's just his favorite spot to be

Oh, sorry. Humidity is usually 55-65 depending on the fluxuations in the room, but as of today it's a little low for norm, at 51%, so maybe that's it. Then again, he's covering up the water and preventing evaporation, which is what produces a lot of the humidity for the tub. I'm not sure what it'd be if I took him off.

Edit: His last shed was only about three weeks ago, as well

My ball python used to flip her hide upside down and sit in it like a boat. No matter how many times I put it upright she would flip them over. She stopped that.
My mice liked to flip their houses over and it in it like a boat. Maybe I just have weird boat animals.
