    Tub Size Question

    Good evening all,
I made a rack for my younger balls at the beginning of summer, and I have to say I’ve had nothing but success with it. Perfect sheds, perfect appetites, you name it. So I was thinking of making a rack system for my full sized male. He’d be the only one going in it right now. But as my young ones get older, I would switch them over to larger tubs and therefore a larger rack.
My question is, right now I have my young balls in 32 quart sterilite tubs. But my 7 year old ball is in a 40 gallon breeder tank. What size tub do you feel is appropriate for him? I feel kind of bad for having him in a 40 gallon all his life to putting him in a smaller tub.
But I was looking at these ones:

What do you guys think? Am I going too big? Or is that good? A large black hide would be in there as well as a nice sized water bowl.
    Thanks for your imput!
    I've got quite a few...

Males are usually kept in 28qt tubs so 32 is more than adequate. I have my females in 42 qt tubs. Once they hit 1200 grams or so. Hope this helps. A really big male might be better suited for a 42 qt tub but generally, big males make terrible breeders so I don't usually let them get overly big. My biggest male is 1700 grams.

    Re: Tub Size Question

I also felt weird moving an adult male over to a tub, the people who had him before me kept him in a 40-breeder (with no UTH, and no way to keep up humidity, but that's another story). They said he was a really friendly snake and easy to get out of his enclosure. Well, he must have hated the thing because after a few days in a tub with correct temps and humidity, he would fight to get back into it if you tried to remove him, and if I tried to remove him now he would hiss and puff and fuss until he was out. I don't have enough adults yet to justify keeping males and females in different sized racks, they're all in a rack with 41 qt tubs, and they all have hides to use if they want.

Those tubs are really too tall. Most people keep adult ball pythons in 41 qt tubs (IRIS CB-70/Sterilite 1860 or 1960 under bed box/Vision V70/ARS 70 series tubs)

BP's are terrestrial snakes and really don't make much use of the extra height.
