Ralph Davis : BP Turns Black and White Over Night.

Anyone here ever had this happen? I haven't but I think it's fascinating.

as he says: "she's been in a real heavy thick crusty shed".

All BPs change colors a bit during the shed cycle, some more than others, and if you have one of these where the effect is strong and a shed gets skipped, this is what happens. At least thats what i think right now.

An extreme case of color variation during the shed cycle. Or is it more than that?

I've never personally experienced it, but have seen several forum threads over the years about it...I don't recall anything about the sheds being excessively heavy or thick though...that's a new one on me...

Here's one of the threads I remember reading about this...trippy...

For those who don't want to wade through that thread...here's an excerpt from Tim Bailey of Bailey and Bailey Reptiles...

"She is fine. This seems to happen more often the believed. I have not seen it in my personal collection, but have seen it on many forums, and talked to some people that have seen it. Noone I have spoken with knows what causes it, but over the next 3-6 sheds, she will more than likely slowly turn back to her original color."

This difference here being that for the ones Ralph has seen the color change is permanent.

We have seen this happen once or twice a year at Pro Exotics. It does usually come with a shed that seems 3-4 times as thick as normal, and is difficult to get off. But the color always comes back. Might take a year or more, but it does come back. And sometimes the animal might do it again a few years later. Very odd, no explanation.
