Enclosure Troubles!
Setting up my tub for my first ball python! I am following http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...e-Basics-*DUW* guide in which he is using a 32 quart sterilite tub. Those are now replaced by the 28 qt sterilite tub. I looked up both dimensions they are the same length and floor space, the height is just different on the 32. He said he is using 2 medium hides from reptile basics. I bought those and when i put the hides in the tub just to see how it will look, it hardly fits and leaves almost zero space. Something is wrong not sure what to do.

Here is the picture, any suggestions? This will be for a male baby ball python. No room to even fit a water bowl.

Re: Enclosure Troubles!
If you're getting a baby, as in under 300 grams, I'd start with the size small hides.

Ok, so I will only use one of those hides and get a smaller one as well. I will also fill it with decorations.

Re: Enclosure Troubles!
You really won't need decorations, the hides you get should be just large enough so they're a snug fit for the youngster. They also don't need a huge water bowl. Get several small ones and just change them 2-3 times a week, or whenever your baby potties in it, or when he dumps it, or when...

If i read your thermometer correct, cool side is high 70s, hot side is low 90s. Both are great!! Best of luck!
Oh, and as someone else mentioned, if you are getting a small ball python, your medium hide will probably be too large. You can get the small ones which should fit perfect. Or you can go to the dollar store, buy some small bowls, my store has 3 for $1.25. Flip the bowls over, cut an opening with your soldering iron and your good to go! Make sure the opening is smooth and not jagged or sharp.
