Help with humidity in a 40 breeder tank

Hi everyone. I've been having trouble maintaining humidity in my 40 breeder, only leveling off at around 30%. Does anyone have some tips or tricks to boost it up to around 50% - 60% and stay leveled off? My water dish is near the middle of the tank. I've tried plexiglass over the top, and also a damp towel but nothing seems to prevent me from having to spray water into the tank at least 10 times a day. Its a screened lid by the way. Try coco husk or cypress mulch substrate. They're great for maintaining humidity.
I also suggest a large wide water dish on the hot side of the enclosure. Larger the surface area, the more evaporation occurs.

How much of the plexiglass/damp towel did you cover the lid with? The lid should be 90% covered. Try taping down tin foil instead.

I have a 40 in my living room with the same issue. I added moss to my hides to create humid hides and now all is well.

During non shed times I will mist the moss every few days and let it dry out and then mist it again.

During shed I soak the moss and keep it damp throughout the shed.

Doing this I have perfect sheds even with a tank humidity of 30%.

I do have my screen covered and use cypress mulch.

Thanks for the tips do you spray directly onto those substrates? And I had the lid covered almost entirely except I left an inch or 2 of space between the plexiglass and towel and the heat lamp. And how do you monitor the humidity inside your hides like that?

I will spray everything during a shed but usually just spray the moss during non shed.

I will also sometimes pour water in my mulch or eco earth and mix it up to make it damp again.

Okay thanks I tried using moss before but the smell messed with my girlfriends allergies. Do you know of any substitutes for regular moss?

I like this stuff. I have noticed any smell to it. Petco and Petsmart both carry it.

I keep a terra cotta flower pot plate filled with Eco earth buried in the substrate. <more like flush> first sign of shedding, I pour water in it to dampen. Can't remember who suggested it but darn if it doesn't work. Also, a Tupperware bowl filled 3/4 with Eco earth, fill with water, put lid on and then poke LOTS of holes in it. Set on hot side of tank. Removable and won't mess with your normal substrate. Simply add more water as it naturally dries out.

KMG... I've been to Houston several times and remember it being quite humid. Surprises me that you have a problem with it unless your central air is drying the house out?

Thought I was the only one using temporary MHs for shed time . I don't have a prob with humidity as my house is typically around 50% no AC all day in FL lol anyway MHs are easier than bumping humidity for the whole viv I LOVE EM
