    Nicole, I used to breed poison dart frogs and I used both hydei (flightless) and melanogaster (wingless) fruitflies to feed them. The cultures were a pain at first, but my tip to you other than the straw idea which is pretty neat is to take your palm and tap the top about 10 times before opening the container, have everything ready to transfer before doing this and then open the lid, shake a few that crawl up top out and close the lid again. It takes some practice, but after a while you'll be a pro at it.
