I would second the choice of a brazilian rainbow boa, beautiful and great to have on display...but for a couple of animals that haven't been mentioned that do wonderfully on display and have a very curious/inquisitive nature, would be either of the aspidites, womas and black headed pythons. They do hide, but more often than not if I'm in my snake room doing anything, they will come out of their hides to see whats going on.

Re: Best show off snake or herp?

I love showing off my Boa constrictor longicauda and my I-J Carpet Python.
Both are outgoing even with new people and very curious.
Any of the smaller boa's would be a good choice and, if you are brave the Emerald Tree Boa is very hard to beat(any tree boa is a stunning animal in my opinion). A Green tree python is a very close 2nd and from my limited understanding more likely to tolerate human interaction.
Or if you are confident enough and able to house a larger Boa... they are quite impressive for a mid-sized to largish snake.

Super Dwarf Retic's are really piquing my curiosity lately but .... I've done well to keep snakes at all with a gf that is still afraid of them.

Let's hear some Hoggy love, or Cali Garter, or Bull snake, or Indigo. There must be some interesting colubrids being displayed in vivariums.

Rhino rat snake? I've been looking into them. They're aboreal, would look fabulous in a vivarium. I just can't find any for sale hardly, but I know they're out there! You can handle them, just be careful because their horns are fragile. you can also house them in 0.2 or 1.1 pairs.

An alternative would be a red tail rat snake, also aboreal:

And if you're looking for a lizard... blue tongue skink? People say they're pretty intelligent and are a joy to work with. I think they're really cool, anyway

Re: Best show off snake or herp?

always loved the look of green iguanas, something about them...

    as far as snakes go:
boa- high red albino or sunglow (pick your locality)
    python- carpet
    I'm not your friend buddy!
