My First Hog: Atlanta Repticon Pickup

    Hey folks!
I finally picked up the hognose I had reserved at the Atlanta Repticon on Saturday. I thought I would post a pic for you guys. He's 19 grams and a het hypo. I will get better pics after he's settled in. He seems pretty laid back, hasn't hissed yet.

Very cool! Hogs definitely interest me...I keep going back and forth between a Hog or a Woma as my next purchase...keep us updated on the temperament.

    Thanks guys!
Although he's not a high red, I think he's got great coloration for a normal.

jclaiborne- so far he seems very laid back... Will explore his tank some but on the three occasions I've handled him (at the show, un-cupping him and weighing when we got home, and moving him to another tank due to heating issues) he hasn't hissed or struck once. Seems pretty darn calm. However, I did take everyone's advice and requested a calmer snake from the breeder. I think it helps too that she handles all of her snakes to get them tamer before selling them.

I'll get you guys some better pics after he settles in. I'm going to try my best to leave him alone for a whole week before handling, although he may eat before then.

    Thanks!
kameo37- Yes I did. I pre-purchased him after looking at pics and messaging them beforehand. I wanted to request info on temperment etc and didn't want to go to the show and them not have anything left. There were some other hogs at the show as well, but I'm glad we had already purchased him.

I found envy's customer service good, although some of their care advice / info didn't exactly line up with what I had read online..but that said, there's a lot of conflicting into online about temps and if / if not they are venomous etc. They said to keep in touch and contact with any other questions ,etc. So I feel good about my purchase. I also feel that the price we got him for was very good considering he's 100% het hypo.. I had originally hoped for a het albino, but the odds of me breeding are very low so this probably won't factor in much. We also got our KSB from them (envy is the same people as ksbmorphs.com) and again they were helpful. They didn't have a huge selection of either at the show, and we got there early, so I'm glad we went when we did.

Also, new pics of him! He was out and about exploring his cage today so I snapped a couple pics:

Seeing how far he can stretch up the side of his tank

Hiding under the practical, but not stylish, toilet paper roll
